Omega releases ML coach DaleDalus

Published February 2, 2021, 8:42 PM Photo from Omega Esports Facebook page  Smart Omega has parted ways with its longtime Mobile Legends: Bang Bang coach Steven “DaleDalus” Vitug on Tuesday night, February 2.  “We are announcing the departure of Coach Dale as our coach. Although we have to walk a different path, the friendship that we built will never end,” the esports organization said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.  Daedalus, 24, steered Omega’s campaign in the recently concluded M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship held in Singapore.  The MPL Philippines Season 6 runner-up swept its matches in the group stage for an upper bracket spot but failed to win a series and even a single game in the playoffs, resulting in a 5th-6th place finish in the 12-team world tournament which was won by fellow Filipino team Bren Esports. 

Mac leads Smart Omega to winning start in DPC-SEA lower division

Published January 20, 2021, 5:13 PM Photo from Omega Esports Facebook page  Rising star midlaner Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva carried Smart Omega to an easy 2-0 sweep of ZeroTwo for a triumphant start in the lower division of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC)-Southeast Asia Regional League on Wednesday.  Mac unleashed solid performances on his Batrider and Death Prophet against the squad led by Indonesian stalwart Muhammad “inYourdreaM” Rizky, enabling the SEA Games gold-winning players to close out the series in just a total of 63 minutes.  With the swift sweep, Omega seized an early joint leadership with the Galvin “Meracle” Kang Jian Wen and Lee “Forev” Sang Don-led HOYO, which posted a 2-0 victory over Yangon Galacticos in the league opener last Monday. 

Omega, Cignal secure lower division spots in DPC-SEA Regional League

Published January 11, 2021, 2:49 PM Photo from Omega Esports Facebook page Smart Omega and Cignal Ultra came up with successful campaigns in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC)-Southeast Asia Closed Qualifier Stage 2 to grab their spots in the lower division of the upcoming Regional League. Omega, which is composed of four players from Adroit Esports which snared the gold in last year’s SEA Games, ruled the six-team Group B with eight points on an impressive record of three series victories and two draws without a defeat.  The Smart-backed squad took a swift 2-0 sweep of Team SMG led by Filipino support Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross and Malaysian veteran Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung in the final day on Sunday.
