MARTINSVILLE, Va. – One suspect is in custody and another is being sought in a weekend shooting in Martinsville.
Investigators say 19-year-old Dasyne Hairston of Martinsville turned himself in to police this week. Hairston faces malicious wounding and firearms charges in a weekend shooting outside a convenience store in Martinsville. He is being held without bond.
Ombae K. Johnson, Jr., is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
Martinsville police responded to a panic alarm at the Valero convenience store on Brookdale Street after a clerk reported that gunshots were fired in the parking lot.
Police say Johnson, Hairston and Deangelo Howard got into an argument in the parking lot and that Johnson pulled a gun and shot Howard. The pair then fled.
