PWD installs more CCTV cameras, elevates underground pumps as rain contingency ahead of G20 Summit

The public works department of Delhi has put into place a rain contingency plan ahead of the G20 Summit, which includes increasing the number of CCTV cameras and elevating underground pumps to prevent heavy water accumulation. Several areas of the national capital were flooded last month due to heavy rainfall and increased water levels in the Yamuna River, including Rajghat, Pragati Maidan Tunnel and Bhairon Road, which delegates are expected to frequent during the summit.

independence day: Security beefed up in Delhi ahead of Independence Day; police check vehicles

On the occasion of Independence Day, about 3,000 traffic police personnel will be deployed to regulate the traffic and will be deployed at major junctions across the national capital, and also on roads connecting the border to the Red Fort. Meanwhile, the entry of commercial and heavy vehicles will be restricted from Noida and Ghaziabad towards Delhi starting from Monday night till August 15. These vehicles will be regulated and diverted towards the alternate routes, officials with Delhi traffic police said on Sunday.
