Dhofar holds beach cleaning, tree-planting campaign By: Times News Service Muscat: A campaign was held to clean beaches and plant trees to celebrate the Omani Environment Day at Dhofar Governorate. The Environment Authority said in a statement: The General Directorate of Environment in the Governorate of Dhofar celebrated Omani Environment Day under the banner A Cooperative Society for a Sustainable Environment through the implementation of the Mirbat beach cleaning campaign. In addition, local trees were planted in cooperation with a number of government and private agencies and the local community in the governorate, the authority added. Additionally, several activities, including awareness-raising lectures on plastic and its harmful effects on the environment and biodiversity were held. Environmentally friendly bags were also distributed and beaches cleaned at Hasik’s office and Wadi Sanaq in Jabal Samhan Reserve.
