Oman: Over 11,000 people have taken institutional quarantine since February mandate

Muscat: The number of arrivals in Oman ever since the institutional quarantine was made mandatory has reached more than 11,000 people, it was revealed by Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Head of the Relief and Shelter Sector. In a statement to Oman News Agency, Al Shamsi said that about 10 per cent of the mentioned figure were Omanis. The mandatory quarantine for all those arriving into Oman was announced by Oman’s Supreme Committee on February 10, to curb the spread of the new strain of Corona virus. Subsequent to the announcement, certain private staff accommodation premises were permitted to allow their staff arriving into Oman on mandatory quarantine in their own staff quarters, subject to compliance of stipulated requirement.
