Omaha police: Efforts continue to have sexual assault kits in evidence and property unit tested © KMBC police lights On Monday, Omaha police provided an update on the efforts to test the sexual assault kits in the Omaha Police Evidence and Property Unit. The unit contained 2,000 sexual assault kits dating as far back as the 1990s. This project is well underway. Hundreds of sexual assault kits have been sent to the Nebraska State Patrol Laboratory for testing and efforts are underway to move forward with these investigations, the statement read. Officials are hopeful the testing will lead to breaks in cases.
