Following a big 'yes' vote in the RMT strike ballot, London Underground cleaners working for Initial and ISS will strike on the day of the Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Despite months of negotiation and pressure, cleaning companies have refused an Olympic bonus to the workers who will be doing some of the hardest work over the Games. RMT is also using the opportunity to go for demands the 2008 living wage strike did not achieve: sick pay, free travel, 28 days' holiday, pension scheme.
