Summary
The Agriculture ministry in September 2020 said $40m (about Shs148 billion) had been earmarked for the first phase of micro-scale irrigation programme to boost production among small holder farmers.
The ministry said the programme aims at creating 3.75 million acres of land under irrigation across the country.

Hundreds of farmers in northern Uganda have embraced irrigation to increase crop production during the dry season and boost food security.
Farmers say they are planting seeds using the irrigation schemes established by the government across West Nile, Lango and Acholi sub-regions and they are harvesting the rewards.

The Shs47b Olweny Irrigation Scheme was on Tuesday handed over to more than 15,00 beneficiary farm families in the three sub-counties of Barr, Agali and Itek.
