Nigeria’s table table star, Aruna Quadri will serve as the country’s captain at Tokyo Olympics

The first batch of Team Nigeria’s Tokyo Olympics contingent departed the country yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja for Kizarazu City in Japan where they are to have a pre-games training camp before moving to the Olympics village.
The first batch is made up of athletes and officials who are going to represent Nigeria in Canoe sprint, rowing and table tennis.
In Canoeing, Bello Ayomide will participate in Women’s Sprint C1, 200m while in rowing, Esther Tamaramiyebi Toko is taking part in the women’s single Sculs WX1.

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) have confirmed the qualification status of Nigeria’s top player, Quadri Aruna for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.
In a letter addressed to the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) and singed by ITTF Competition Director Gabor Felegyi, Aruna who is the first African in the history of the Olympic Games to make it to the quarter-final stage of the singles event will join 85 others across the globe to compete in the men’s singles event at Tokyo Olympic Games next month.
