Ogun deputy speaker impeached over misconduct

Kadiri had clashed with some leaders of the party over allegations of violent conduct during the membership registration and revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. It was alleged that Kadiri led suspected hoodlums to invade residence of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, in Oru-Ijebu, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the State. Kadiri allegedly led thugs to invade and vandalise the SSG’s residence in Oru-Ijebu and that of a former state legislator, Adebiyi Odugbesan. Kadiri was said to have accused the SSG and Adegbesan of hoarding the registration materials for the ongoing APC registration and revalidation exercise in the State.

The recently impeached Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri, has accused the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, of being the mastermind of his removal. Kadiri, while addressing newsmen after his impeachment, said he had not been talking with the Speaker for the past four months. According to him, he was being accused of misconduct because he signed a sum of about N16,200 for the repair of his vehicle, which he said was down for one week. He also alleged that the Ogun Assembly under Oluomo, is being run like a cult, saying no one could ask for financial report of the legislative house.

Another Police Station in Cross River State has been attacked by unknown gunmen, carting away arms. The attack, DAILY POST was informed, occurred in Ekori in Yahuu local government area of Cross River State. An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, alleged that the gunmen carted away AK 47 after beating up policemen on duty. “The hoodlums invaded the Police Station located at Ekori community of Yakurr with heavy weapons and attacked the officers,” the witness alleged. According to him, the hoodlums scared away the officers on duty, beat one to stupor and made away with the AK-47 rifle of the policeman. It was learnt that the attack led to the closure of the Ekori Police Station indefinitely and officers asked to move to Ugep Divisional Police, at the local government headquarters.
