Vasile Culea was arrested after Freda Walker was killed at her home in Langwith Junction, Shirebrook, near Bolsover in Derbyshire. Her husband Ken also suffered critical injuries.
Vasile Culea, 33, a Romanian national, has appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court charged with murdering 86-year-old Freda Walker and attempting to murder her 88-year-old husband Ken.
