Ellsworth Pride Zoo coming to Knowlton Park
ELLSWORTH A colorful cluster of 18 animal sculptures will help the city celebrate Pride Month in June. Hosted by Ellsworth High School’s Gender/Sexuality Diversity Alliance (GSDA), the Knowlton Park art installation will feature animal sculptures painted in the color of various Pride flags that represent the diversity of the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning) community.
“The art installation is a fun, innovative way to teach Ellsworth residents about the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community and to promote greater inclusion and acceptance,” EHS Spanish and Gifted and Talented teacher Carrie Kutny said. “At its core, Pride is about acknowledging, respecting, and celebrating diversity.”
