Controversy rocks LAUTECH over removal of VC
The governor of Oyo State had asked the vice-chancellor to step aside for unknown reasons
Mr Ologunde was asked to ‘step aside’ last Friday by Governor Seyi Makinde over reasons not stated in a letter seen by PREMIUM TIMES.
The governor in the letter signed by the state’s commissioner for education, science and technology, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, urged the VC to hand over to the principal officer next to his rank.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Branch, Ogbomoso chapter has rejected Governor Seyi Makinde’s order that its Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof Michael Ologunde should step down.
The governor, on Friday, directed the VC to step aside until further notice in a statement through the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Olasunkanmi Olaleye.

The union, however, said that it received with shock, the directive emanating from the office of the Commissioner for Education of Oyo State, asking the Vice-Chancellor to step aside. It said that the state government erred in its action because it was strange to the provision of the university act.
Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor has sacked Michael Ologunde, the Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso, LAUTECH.
Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the state Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology disclosed this in a statement released to newsmen on Friday.
The statement reads ; “His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State and the visitor to the Ladoke Akintola University, has directed that the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. M. O. Ologunde should step aside until further notice.
“Consequently, the VC has also been directed to hand over forthwith to the next principal officer in rank in order to ensure uninterrupted flow of normal activities of the institution.”
