The Jonathan & Shari Fox Family Foundation board of directors announced $13,000 in grants for the foundation s 2020 grant award season.
The checks were to be mailed out right before Christmas, according to a Fox Foundation news release. The recipients were notified just before the end of the year.
The Fox Foundation board of directors reviewed grant applications in November. Foundation President Jonathan Fox said there was a very high caliber of grant requests. There are so many worthy causes with the nonprofits in Southeastern Colorado which do such great jobs to make our communities a better place to live, that it makes the decision-making process very difficult,” Fox said.

CANON CITY One new coronavirus-related death has been reported in Fremont County, but officials are having challenges tracking exactly where it happened.
According to statistics compiled by the Fremont County Department of Public Health, the county has had a total of eight COVID-19 related deaths. Five of those deaths have been among state prison inmates, confirmed by DOC Public Information Officer Annie Skinner.
Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller reported only two of the eight deaths have been among community members. The first was an 81-year-old female who died Sept. 10 and the second occurred a couple of weeks ago at St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City.
