SHARON Open Days 2021, a yearly program by the Garden Conservancy, continues July 10 at Cobble Pond Farm, which features garden structures and sculpture, is organic/toxin-free, has rare plants and plant collections.
“Several garden rooms in pastoral settings are defined and accented by stone walls, clipped yews, sweeping lawns with western views, and mature maples,” according to the conservancy. “The garden is dominated by a 125-year old copper beech, Ginkgo, and giant Metasequoia. The twenty acres showcase a sculpture by David Colbert, antique china, and stone statues. Notable is the conifer collection, surrounding the Hessian Rock, as it is called in local folklore, where the townspeople hid from the Hessian soldiers as they marched past during the Revolutionary War.
