MW Restaurant Just Gave Its Kitchen Equipment to Kahuku High School Future culinarians on the North Shore will learn to cook at the same flattop that produced dinner for the Obamas. February 1, 2021   Before last week, the Kahuku High School culinary program’s only commercial-grade equipment was a convection oven. Now it has a French top range, flattop griddle with oven and salamander, two-door under counter and double under-counter refrigerators with drawers all donated by MW Restaurant, which shuttered Dec. 31 to reopen in a new space next month. When culinary teacher Kregg Teichert showed up for the haul last weekend with a U-Haul, MW threw in pans, a rack and baking sheets as well.

There’s a Big Move In the Works for MW Restaurant The popular eatery is closing Dec. 31 and reopening in a new space along with its recently shuttered Artizen café. December 18, 2020   Fans of MW Restaurant have two more weeks to order takeout. The popular eatery by the husband-wife team of Michelle Karr-Ueoka and Wade Ueoka is closing at the end of the year and reopening in the Symphony Honolulu building in early 2021.     The one-month closure aside, the move looks like a win. MW’s new home will be in the glass-fronted Viaggio spot on the second floor of Symphony, roughly four blocks down Kapʻiolani Boulevard from its current home. Downstairs, the couple plan to resurrect Artizen, the casual downtown café they closed in late summer. There was some urgency here: The lease for MW, which opened seven years ago in the former KGMB-TV building, is expiring.
