The service, which was originally started under the name NCVA (a division of Serve), has been granted funding to expand into Kettering and is now on the lookout for volunteer befrienders who have a spare hour a week to help the elderly..
Olivia Clarke, Serve s befriender co-ordinator for Kettering, thanked everyone who has come forward to volunteer since the start of the pandemic.
She said: It has made a huge difference and we were able to reach out to many more service users. Referrals continue to pour in as isolation continues to grow and we are in desperate need of more help.

Ipswich Town Women’s striker Maddie Biggs was delighted after scoring a first-half hat-trick against Huddersfield as the Tractor Girls booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round with a 4-1 victory. Playing at the John Smith’s Stadium against a Terriers side in the division above, Town’s young team produced a fantastic first-half display to record their third FA Cup scalp from the division above this season.
Speaking at full time, the 16-year-old hat-trick hero said: “It’s just amazing really. I think all the girls feel amazing. To do it here as well and play how we played, we’re just over the moon.
Girl Scout troop’s extra items distributed locally

Nearly double the amount of nuts and candy ordered by Girl Scout Troop 1239 recently was delivered to Missy Casner’s house.
After the girls took orders online and on paper, Casner expected to receive 295 items.
When they arrived via FedEx, though, she went into the garage where her husband, Monty, was sorting them and realized there was a lot more than expected.
