The early release of Anna Sorokin, otherwise known as Anna Delvey, the ‘fake heiress’ of Manhattan from prison this month will have been an embarrassing reminder for some of the city’s top financial, real estate and hospitality elite. During the height of Sororkin’s spree through the city in 2016-17, service staffers such as bellhops, restaurant staff and spa workers saw through her fakeness but happily pocketed the $100 cash tips Sorokin flashed around, courtesy of bad cheques kindly bank clerks cashed for her.
