The conducting talents of Oliver Yan, graduate student in the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University, will be spotlighted when the Symphony Orchestra performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.<br/><br/>Yan, who is from Hong Kong, is earning a master’s degree in conducting from SFA. One transformative public safety plan is currently moving forward in Ithaca, New York. It will replace the current police department with a new public safety department that will include armed officers and unarmed crisis intervention specialists. Civil rights attorney and Alameda County District Attorney primary winner Pamela Price has long been recognized as a significant contributor for the enactment of the groundbreaking Title IX legislation because of her role as the lead Plaintiff in the first sexual harassment lawsuit, Alexander (Price) v. During visits this month, this reporter found the doors to common areas at Embark locked. When residents tried to open these doors, they were unsuccessful, with the exception of a second-floor balcony, which residents claim was recently reopened. That area was overgrown with weeds. The Symphony Orchestra at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform works by Beethoven and Mozart when the student ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
SFA Symphony Orchestra conductor if Dr. Gregory Grabowski. For this concert, graduate assistant conductor Oliver Yan from Hong Kong will conduct the complete performance. The orchestra will present Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 40.
