Ford in Europe is testing smart driver alert technology that could indicate the direction from which people and objects are approaching. The engineers are also testing intuitive sounds such as bicycle bells, footsteps and vehicle noises to warn drivers when other road users or pedestrians are nearby. Initial tests revealed.
Ford is carrying out tests on Directional Audio Alerts, a system that simulates sounds made by potential hazards, such as footsteps made by pedestrians.
The alert system pumps the sound of pedestrian footsteps or bicycle bells around a car s cabin to warn drivers of the whereabouts of other road users in close proximity.
