Careerline Tech students get hands-on emergency response training

HOLLAND Students in the Emergency Medical Services program at the Careerline Tech Center received some hands-on training last week.
The students were able to participate in vehicle extrication training through partnerships with the Olive Township Fire Rescue and Holland Towing.
“We are beyond grateful to our industry partners for all that they do to help our students succeed,” stated Kim Schrader, Emergency Medical Services program instructor at CTC.
Holland Towing provided two vehicles for the students to use during the activities, while Olive Township Fire Rescue had several firefighters on site to lead the training.

OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Three persons from Holland were hospitalized after a single vehicle crash in West Olive on Friday (Apr. 9, 2021) afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant James Douglas, deputies and first responders were dispatched to Port Sheldon Street east of 128
th Avenue just before 4 PM. “Investigation at the scene indicates that a 2002 (Chevrolet) Silverado, being driven westbound by a 74-year-old Holland (man), ran off the roadway and struck a tree,” Douglas said in a department statement. “The reason that the vehicle left the roadway is not known at this time, but neither drugs or alcohol are suspected. The driver and both passengers were pinned in the vehicle before being extricated by Olive Township Fire Rescue.”
