Continued overlay of First Street part of Willmar s 2021 street improvement plans

Part of the 2021 street improvements plan in Willmar is the overlay of First Street South from 19th Avenue to Willmar Avenue, the intersection shown here. The work is a continuation of last year s project when a new overlay of First Street was laid from 19th Avenue to the westbound state Highway 23 ramps.

WILLMAR One of Willmar s main commercial corridors will continue to receive a needed upgrade in 2021. First Street South, from 19th Avenue to Willmar Avenue will get a new layer of pavement this construction season, one of four street projects the city plans to tackle this year.
Willmar police officer injured and suspect arrested in pursuit

WILLMAR A Willmar police officer was injured and a squad car damaged during a pursuit and arrest of a man Tuesday afternoon.
The incident began around 2:51 p.m. when law enforcement attempted to stop a 2008 Ford Edge on Lakeland Drive near Olena Avenue Southeast. The stop was initiated because the vehicle had a suspected stolen license plate.
According to a news release from Police Chief Jim Felt, the vehicle was going east on Kandiyohi County Road 23 at a high rate of speed and then went north on 45th Street Southeast.
