Ukrainian forces are believed to have made good progress in penetrating the first line of Russian defences in some areas, according to an MoD intelligence update over the weekend.
Kyiv announced on Sunday that Ukrainian forces had retaken two villages in the eastern region of Donetsk, the first reported gains of their new offensive.
