Burch School of Music declares three-way tie in fundraising

Each December the Weatherford Music Teachers Association holds a fundraiser at Antonio’s restaurant in Weatherford. The money raised helps fund festivals, scholarships, and other events throughout the year.

School for the Blind students take part in crosswalk project

3 hrs ago Next time you are on Gibson Street, you’ll notice a new crosswalk connecting Oklahoma School for the Blind and Civitan Park. Students in Cheryl Daniels’ Service Learning class at Oklahoma School for the Blind repainted the crosswalk on May 13. With the help of Lacey Wallace and Jesse Garcia from Oklahoma State University Extension High Obesity Prevention (HOP) program and Doug Walton from the Muskogee County Health Department, students used yellow spray paint to make the railings leading to the crosswalk more visible and white paint and paint rollers to paint the crosswalk. The project came about through the Connect Muskogee transportation planning initiative. This area of Gibson Street was identified as being in need of traffic calming on the Connect Muskogee pinpoint map survey conducted from October 2020 to January 2021. Bourne Schools Assessment Offers Insight Into Student Academics, Mental Health

Bourne school officials have been keeping track of how students are doing this year through assessments that gauge both academic and social and emotional components. Assistant Superintendent Melissa Ryan presented the data to the Bourne School Committee at its meeting last week on Wednesday, April 7. She said the information from the academic assessments is meant to inform the decisions the district will make in the future as opposed to being used to make judgments of the past. Additionally, she noted that this is the first year that the assessments have been conducted and they were presented in an inconsistent way, due to the hybrid model of instruction the district has used this year.
