Stores that sell deposit items in Linn and Lincoln Counties must once again start accepting container returns.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has allowed stores in “Extreme” or “High” risk counties to opt out of accepting bottles and cans. Now that Lincoln County is designated “Lower Risk” and Linn County is designated “Moderate Risk,” stores that sell deposit items must once again accept containers and process deposit refunds.
The OLCC waived the requirement for all stores when Gov. Kate Brown announced a Statewide Freeze last fall as part of efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus. With the addition of Linn and Lincoln Counties, there are now 20 (out of 36) counties in Oregon where stores are require to accept bottle and cans for deposite returns. The OLCC says its standalone Bottledrop centers, which are located in some communities, remain open regardless of county risk level.

A Newberg business has found itself on the wrong side of state and county government after refusing to adhere to health and safety standards issued to fight the pandemic.
For the past several months Old Town Bar & Grill on First and Blaine streets has operated as a members association and allowed its patrons to imbibe, socialize and enjoy live music in tight quarters with little or no social distancing. The business s continued operation caught the attention of state agencies after complaints were lodged that it remained open while other restaurants and drinking establishments were shuttered after Gov. Kate Brown s Stay Home, Save Lives order was issued in November in reaction to a dramatic uptick in cases and deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus in the state.
Canby bar loses liquor license for defying COVID closure
OLCC suspends Route 99 Roadhouse liquor license after seeing customers and employees indoors without masks
The Route 99 Roadhouse in Canby is closed for what owners say will be a few weeks after the Oregon Liquor Control Commission suspended their liquor license for allowing people to eat and drink inside the building without masks.
OLCC had received complaints in January that the restaurant was allowing groups of customers to gather and consume food and alcohol inside the building, according to a news release from the OLCC. Restaurants in extreme-risk counties, which at the time included Clackamas County, are only allowed to welcome customers for takeout and outdoor dining.
