Reps probe illicit harvest, exportation of 7, 200 p nises, other human organs to China

Piqued by the reports of a seized cargo ship that sailed from Nigeria with 7,200 refrigerated penises found in 36 boxes labelled as plantain that harboured at the Shanghai port called Red Market in China, the House of Representatives yesterday resolved to probe the circumstances of the development.
Noting that the Chinese General Administration of Customs had alerted that an increasingly large number of armed groups in Africa use organs harvested in unsanitary conditions to finance their nefarious activities, the House underscored a need to curb the menace.
There was rage in the National Assembly (NASS) past week as Senators boiled in anger over perceived disregard, by President Muhammadu Buhari, of their resolutions on issues that concern his administration.
The seething anger over the President’s attitude, combined with a few others, shaped how activities at NASS unfolded.
Furious lawmakers
On December 15, Senators could not hide their annoyance over President Buhari’s refusals to implement their resolutions on critical national issues, especially as it concerns the country’s nagging security challenges.

The House of Representatives (Reps), on Tuesday, halted the implementation of the employment of 774,000 special public workers as well as payment of N52 billion allocated for the scheme pending the conclusion of various controversies trailing the initiative.
The resolution was passed after the adoption of a motion on the ‘Urgent need to stop the circumvention of due process by Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in allocating the 774,000 slots in the special public works programme,’ sponsored by Hon Olajide Olatubosun.
During the review of the public outcry trailing the recent sack of the Director-General of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Nasiru Argungu, the lawmakers who condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision, called for his immediate reinstatement.

The House of Representatives at plenary Tuesday, urged the federal government to halt the take-off of the 774,000 special works programme scheduled to commence January 5, 2021.
The House also asked the Ministry of Finance not to release the funds meant for the programme until some issues that affect the integrity of the programme are sorted out.
It further condemned the sack of the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mohammed Ladan Argungu, calling for his immediate reinstatement.
The resolutions followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance, titled, ‘Urgent need to stop the circumvention of due process by the federal/ministry of labour and productivity in allocating the 774,000 in the special public works programme,’ sponsored by Hon. Olajide Olatubosun.
