Ever since Porsche added forced induction to the 911 all the way back in 1975, the 911 Turbo has become synonymous with exhilarating performance. From the original “widowmaker” 930 to the current 992, the 911 Turbo has always offered speed without sacrificing the everyday usability that came with lesser versions.
In the video below, each generation of the 911 Turbo is pitted against each other in a drag race, so let’s see who the contestants, and their drivers, are.
1st Generation: 930 Turbo
The original 911 Turbo, the 930, is being driven by former F1 driver Mark Webber. It was produced from 1975 to 1989 and had a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six making 256 hp (260 PS / 191 kW) and 243 lb-ft (329 Nm) of torque. It went from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds and reached a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Read this in amazement: seven iterations of the Porsche Turbo series have gathered around for a quick shoot-out. Six are driven by famous racers; the seventh gets a surprise guest. A hint, he’s also involved with Porsche motorsport history. The winner of this family affair drag race is entirely expected, but as they say, it’s the journey – not the destination. 26 photos
While having names like Mark Webber’s or Neel Jani’s involved with the stunt means there’s a certain level of competitiveness to be expected, in the end, we really think there are no losers in this race. Following the normal order of things, the original 1975 Porsche 930 Turbo crosses the finish line last.

Every generation has more power than the car it replaced and to see what that looks like, Porsche lined them all up for an epic 911 Turbo drag race. With Porsche GT Works drivers behind the wheel of each car, including Mark Webber in a 930, all seven generations of 911 Turbos came together on an airstrip. The model s evolution couldn t be more evident than the bird s eye view of them approaching the finish line.
The new 911 Turbo went from 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds while its immediate predecessor did so in 3 seconds flat. The 930? It took 5.4 seconds, an incredible number for a 45-year-old car.
