A young lady, Winifred Ugochinyere Hyacinth, has rekindled hope that some youths take education very seriously. Winifred who is a medical graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, took to her social media to show off her several achievements. She bagged several awards at the induction ceremony of medical graduates into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. Winifred who emerged the overall best graduating student won 12 out of the 14 awards including the award for best student in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th MBBS. The young doctor graduate took to Twitter to reveal that her outstanding performance made her mother shed tears of joy and extremely proud of her.

By Funmi Ogundare Lagos State University (LASU) is set to graduate a total of 8,959 graduates with 76 bagging First class honours degree in various faculties of the institution which is the highest in its history. Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, who briefed journalists on its 24th convocation ceremonies for the 2018/2019 academic session which will kick-off with a convocation cup competition for staff on March 20, said the ceremony will witness some infrastructure/street naming ceremony after individuals who have contributed immensely to LASU. They include: Deji Femi-Pearse, Akin Kekere- Ekun, Bode Augusto, Akibo Savage, Isiaka Ishola Oluwa. Others are: Kehinde Williams, Omotayo Seriki, J.K Randle and Adebayo Ninalowo.

A total of 6,197 students bagged first degrees in various fields, while 1,089 got masters degrees and 47 got doctorate degrees. Of the lot that bagged first degrees, Oladimeji Idris Shotunde, who got a degree in Business Adminstration emerged the best graduating student, while Olusola Aanu Olabanjo, who got a masters degree in Computer Science emerged the best in that level.
