Security pundits task new Acting IGP on rising insecurity

By Oladapo Udom Lagos, April 6, 2021 Notable security experts have tasked the newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) , Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Usman Baba, to focus on quelling the rising insecurity threats in various parts of the country. The security experts told newsmen in separate interviews that the new Acting IGP was on a hot seat and had his hands already full with a lot of menace to life and property. NAN reports that Baba’s appointment was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, April 6,2021. Mr Ben Okezie, a security consultant, said that Baba was well qualified for the job being the DIG in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nigerian Police Force.

Police arrest 25 suspected armed robbers few days to New Year

By Oladapo Udom Lagos, Dec. 29, 2020 (NAN) The Police Command in Lagos State has arrested 15 suspected armed robbers and a cult member of the ‘Eiye Confraternity’, a few days to the New Year celebration. This is contained in a statement signed on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. Adejobi said that the arrests was part of police efforts to protect lives and property in the state especially during the ‘Ember months’. “The command had been on the trail of criminals who have been terrorising citizens and residents at strategic locations, especially in Ikorodu and Lekki/Ajah areas of the state,”he said.

Police assures on safety as Third Mainland Bridge closes for repairs

By Oladapo Udom Lagos, Dec.24, 2020 The Police Command in Lagos State has assured the general public, particularly, commuters of adequate security and traffic management as Third Mainland Bridge closes for repairs. This was contained in a statement signed on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. He said the bridge would be closed for 72 hours between the midnight of Friday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec.29. “The closure is in continuation of ongoing general repairs of bad portions of the bridge and this will definitely occasion some traffic stress on commuters,”he said. Adejobi therefore advised road users to follow already designated alternative routes for their convenience.
