Allen (1909–2002), longtime clerk of the Florida House of Representatives, founded the Florida Handbook in 1947 and the Florida Photo Archives in 1951. Joan (1935-2016) edited or co-edited the handbook and spent four decades as curator of the photo archives. The two are authors of Florida Place Names,“ packed with name origins. Sounds like a column!
