A bill sponsored by a couple of rural state senators tries to bridge the deepening urban-rural divide in New Mexico by creating a “rural equity” ombudsman post within the state Department of Finance and Administration.
The measure, as promoted by its supporters, sounds like a good idea.

   1:13 a.m. A Motel 6 security guard reported a driver in a red Toyota Tacoma hit a fence as he was leaving. An officer found a Tacoma with front end damage at Allsups but it was not the truck that hit the fence.
DNCU Provides Turkey Vouchers To All 200 Employees

SANTA FE – Northern New Mexico financial mainstay, Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU) is giving back to its members and employees in a meaningful way this holiday season.
DNCU purchased turkey vouchers for each of its 200 employees and their families and announced a pay-it-forward project to donate 300 turkeys to random members before the end of the year.
The credit union also supports fellow essential workers by providing full turkey meals to four fire departments in northern New Mexico. In all, 13 stations and 98 firefighters from Los Alamos, Española, Santa Fe City and Ojo Sarco fire departments were included.
