Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore has called on the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and Coillte to work together to examine the expansion of the Glen of the Downs ancient woodland by connecting it to nearby Kindlestown Woods.
The next round of contracts for wind and solar farms – due to be awarded next week – will provide less green electricity than hoped for and cost the consumer more, industry groups say.
