that they actually didn t see a sheen. we got initial reports that there has been seen a sheen one nautical mile by a hundred feet. there are two pipelines to shore, one goes to shell, they report they have not received a production out of this pipeline for some months now. the other one goes to a & r, this one has been active. there is a vessel called the candy apple with firefighting capabilities on site. admiral andrews says the coast guard will obviously take the lead on pollution response. captain stapbt ton is the point person to even sure that any firefighting plan that they execute does not worse even the work to shut off the production. admiral landry reassured us there are assets in place. megyn: is oil leaking or not. a sheen in the water. we will bring you the news as we get it from louisiana s governor bobby jindal. a political prescription from

new oil leaking in the gulf and pressure tests on the well head show that the pressure is not rising it appears to be stable. it appears the static kill may be a permanent fix. but they are not convinced and not 100% on that so they are proceeding with the drilling of that relief well while they continue to test the cement and mud that appears to be sealing that well from above. so they may still seal it from below. they are saying it looks like the static kill fix worked. megyn: what is the status of the oil in the water? we heard what conflicting reports. what is the status of that now? the coast guard said they have a lot of equipment out there monitoring the potential for oil under the surface of the water in a variety of locations throughout the gulf. what they are telling us so far is it appears whatever oil is there is in min school up
shep? shepard: mike to be blin to be blin live on planet blago tonight. the feds tried to silent their findings about the underwater oil plume in the gulf of mexico. those findings made headlines in the erlg days of the gulf s disaster. the researchers from the university of south florida claimed the oil leaking into the gulf formed a six mile wide plume deep below the surface. according to the santd petersburg newspaper the national oceanic and atmospheric association told scientists they should hold off talking about that plume at all. researchers told the paper they had rock solid evidence and that, quote, we expected that noaa would be pleased because we found something very, very interesting. noaa instead responded by trying to discredit us. it was just a shock to us. according to the report, the feds claim the researchers were speculating at the time. a claim the scientists vehemently deny.
