Norway: Equinor granted drilling permit for wells 35/11-25 S and 35/11-25 A in PL 090 12 Apr 2021 35/11-25 S and PL 090. Wells 35/11-25 S and 35/11-25 A will be drilled from the Deepsea Atlantic drilling facility in position 61°02’12.72’’ N and 03°26’53.58’’ E after completing maintenance work on Gullfaks for Equinor in production licence PL 050. Equinor is the operator with an ownership interest of 45 per cent. The other licensees are Vår Energi (25 per cent), Neptune Energy Norge (15 per cent) and Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (15 per cent). The area in this licence consists of part of Block 35/11. The wells will be drilled about 10 kms west of the Fram field.

Denmark: Fugro wins marine site characterisation contract for world’s first Energy Island Hub 12 Apr 2021 Danish Energy Island project in the North Sea. The contract is part of Energinet’s preliminary studies to build the world’s first ‘hub and spoke’ energy scheme: an energy island 80 km off the Danish coast that will act as a transmission centre for hundreds of surrounding wind turbines. Fugro will perform geophysical and unexploded ordnance (UXO) magnetometry surveys, which will be used to prepare an integrated geological and geotechnical soil model on which wind farm developers will base future tenders. The fieldwork will run from May to November 2021, resuming in February and March 2022, and will comprise two phases: Phase 1 will deliver the geophysical surveys, including seabed sampling and soil data down to at least 100 m below the seabed; Phase 2 will be the UXO magnetometry survey, using Fugro’s dedicated Geowing solution.
