OHIO community raises record totals during Giving Day 2021 Published: April 30, 2021 Author: Staff reports OHIO Giving Day 2021 proved once again the resiliency of the Bobcat spirit, as Ohio University alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends around the world joined together in their love and support, generously giving more than $443,320 through more than 2,100 gifts to scholarships, programs, and initiatives that are moving OHIO Forever Forward. While the final results are still being calculated, OHIO Giving Day 2021, held April 21, showed the limitless generosity of Bobcats. Building on the success of 2019’s inaugural Giving Day and 2020’s Bobcats Take Care campaign, this year’s Giving Day increased both the number of donations and the total dollars raised.

OU to honor 2020 graduates with in-person commencement ceremony during the fall semester Athens event will pay tribute to Fall and Spring 2020 graduates on Sept. 5 ATHENS, Ohio Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis has announced plans to honor the institution’s 2020 graduates with an in-person commencement ceremony on Sept. 5, 2021. This date was selected to align with Labor Day weekend, and it will coincide with OHIO Football’s first home game on Saturday, September 4. “We are very excited to welcome our 2020 graduates back to Athens this fall so we can properly commemorate their great accomplishments with an in-person commencement ceremony,” President Nellis said. “We are inspired by our 2020 Bobcats for their resiliency throughout this time of adversity. It is our hope that most graduates and their family members will be able to take advantage of the long weekend and enjoy our first home football game against the Syracuse Orange while they’re in town.”

Duane Nellis prepares for Fall Commencement 2020. Approximately 5,344 students are expected to participate in Ohio University’s Spring Commencement ceremonies starting Friday, April 30 through Sunday, May 2, at Peden Stadium and virtually.  The graduate commencement ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, April 30, for both master’s and doctoral degrees. Undergraduate ceremonies will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1 and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2.  All commencement ceremonies will take place rain or shine in Peden Stadium and are expected to last two and half hours each.
