Republican Ohio Senate candidate calls on GOP rep to resign over impeachment vote

“It is clear Congressman Gonzalez’s wrongful decision to vote with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer ADVERTISEMENT “President Trump is the leader of our Party and we must have conservative leaders committed to the team if we are going to keep Ohio red and win back majorities in the U.S. House and Senate in 2022,” she added. “Gonzalez should put his constituents and the Republican Party first by resigning from Congress.” A spokesperson for Gonzalez declined to comment on Timken’s remarks.  Timken’s demand comes days after Trump endorsed his former aide Max Miller, who on Friday launched a campaign to unseat Gonzalez. 

Former Ohio GOP chair Jane Timken launches Senate bid

Former Ohio GOP Chairwoman Jane Timken is joining the race to replace retiring Sen. Rob Portman Timken was widely expected to make a run for Portman’s seat. Prior to launching her campaign, she resigned from her role at the Ohio Republican Party and hired a handful of Portman’s former campaign aides, most notably Corry Bliss, who managed the senator s successful 2016 reelection bid. Timken announced her candidacy in a video that leaned heavily on former President Trump ADVERTISEMENT “We can’t let America become a socialist country,” she says in the roughly two-minute video. “I’m running for the United States Senate to stand up for you.
