WOOSTER – A year after the Alice Noble Ice Arena narrowly avoided being converted into an indoor turf field, the rink has regained financial stability, if not profitability. The arena faces no threat of closure in the coming years, key backers say.
Richard Graziano, who chairs the Northeast Ohio Ice Committee that formed by a group of community members in late 2019 to rescue the facility from its financial difficulties, said his group has raised just over $200,000 in pledges.
NEO Ice, as the committee is called, collected $150,000 of the pledges in 2020, Graziano said, putting it on schedule for the amount community groups agreed to raise after the Donald and Alice Noble Foundation donated a similar amount to bail out the struggling facility in 2019.
