Leesburg man sentenced for attempted murder of woman in Ross County

(Photo courtesy of the Ross County Sheriff s Office) A Leesburg man was sentenced Monday after being found guilty of all four charges in an indictment that included one count of attempted murder, according to the Chillicothe Gazette. As previously reported, Samuel Chapman, 41, of Leesburg was indicted by a Ross County grand jury May 8, 2020, where he was charged with one count of attempted murder, a felony of the first degree; one count of kidnapping, a felony of the first degree; one count of grand theft, a felony of the fourth degree; and one count of tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree.

(HCP Photo/Stephen Forsha) The Fairfield Lions reached the Division IV District Finals Saturday, March 6 in a game played at Waverly s downtown arena. The Lions played strong against the Trimble Tomcats, but once the final buzzer sounded it was the end of the season for the Lions, falling by a 59-48 score. Fairfield (10-12) won three games in their tournament run and held the lead against Trimble at the end of the first quarter as they scored 17 points, while the Tomcats scored 14 points. Even when halftime arrived, the Lions trailed by just three points at 30-27.

(Submitted photo) On Wednesday, Feb. 22, two members from the Hillsboro FFA Chapter competed in the sub-districts public speaking career development event at Hillsboro High School. The members who competed in the contest were Riley Stratton and Jenna Rhoads. Stratton competed in the Advanced Prepared portion of the contest. In the prepared category, the contestants pick an agricultural-related topic and write a speech, which they memorize and present to the judges. The speech is six to eight minutes long.

The state-sponsored mass vaccination clinics will be located in Lima, Maumee, Dayton, Columbus, Akron, Youngstown, Cincinnati, Chillicothe, Marietta, Wilmington,and Zanesville. Four mobile mass vaccination clinics will also make rounds in the areas of northwestern and west-central Ohio (Ada), southeastern Ohio (Athens), north-central Ohio (Mansfield) and east-central Ohio (Steubenville).
