MANSFIELD - The guidelines are going to be more restrictive than expected for spending Richland County’s share of funds from the new American Rescue Plan Act COVID relief program.
County Commissioner Tony Vero outlined what he has found out about the program as the board voted on Thursday to formally authorize Auditor Pat Dropsey to accept the funds when they come in on behalf of the county and established a special revenue fund where they will be deposited.
Officials learned in March that the county and its municipalities are expected to receive $50 million under the American Rescue Plan Act that Congress approved in February. The county’s share is estimated at $23.4 million and the City of Mansfield’s at $22 million, while allocations for other cities and villages range from $700,000 to $1.8 million.
