well dairy farmers are growing particularly impatient in the crucial swing state of wisconsin. the state trump won by less than 1 percentage point in 2016. marten savage is outfront tonight. reporter: i m halfway between green bay and milwaukee. the cows black and white, fields green, the voters red at their barns. the dairy farming business is a clalg. dairy farming has its challenges. more of a challenge than what we expected in our careers. it s challenging. the average price for milk is around $16 per 100 pounds. for most farmers that is less than the cost for them to down pounds they were getting five years ago. it means there is not as much money to go around at the end of the month. last year some 70 oh farms in wisconsin closed, nearly two a day. and some of those farmers i call my friends.
