Gulak: Uzodimma hits back at Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode and Governor Hope Uzodimma Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has replied former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, for insinuating that he (governor) had a hand in the murder of Ahmed Gulak, former Special Adviser to former President, Goodluck Jonathan. Gulak, was shot dead in Owerri on Sunday, on his way to catch a flight at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport, after a visit to the state, sparking off a lot of reactions amongst Nigerians, with Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Ohanaeze Ndigbo, exchanging hot words over the issue. Joining in the fray, Fani-Kayode, debunked that the late All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain was killed by the Indigenous People Biafra (IPOB), through the Eastern Security Network (ESN), saying it was nonsensical to make the suggestion.

This was contained in a statement in Owerri by Uzodinma’s Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachukwu. ”Over 400 of those who carried out the threats on the state in the past have been arrested. ”The good thing is that over 70 per cent of them are not Igbo. We will crush anybody that attempts to cause mayhem or attack Imo people again. ”Government cannot surrender to blackmailers, hoodlums, and perpetrators of violence,” he said. He also advised those planning to visit the state with any form of violence to have a rethink as “government is more than ever ready and prepared to keep Imo safe and secured.”

Uzodimma, in a statement by Mr Oguwike Nwachukwu, his Chief Press Secretary, pointed out that “the two laws could not have come at a more auspicious time owing to the security challenges in Imo and Nigeria, generally. The governor said the bill was sent to the house of assembly to address the challenges of militancy, attacks on police formations and politically influenced violence. He said the law was made to assist the law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order and to secure life and property in Imo. According to him, the law on security bans unauthorized persons from carrying firearms in the state.
