OGDEN â The decision last week by Ogden officials to disperse the homeless encampment on 33rd Street struck Loveena Winkelkotter as unfair.
âTheyâre not given any support. Theyâre just told they need to leave,â she said. âYou canât tell someone to leave if thereâs nowhere for them to go.â
Her dismay and discord among others over the forced removal of the tent city encampment spurred a small demonstration Monday on Washington Boulevard, across from the Ogden municipal building. Around 10 people gathered, variously advocating for the homeless and what they say should be the right of the homeless to gather and form encampments.

OGDEN, Utah â With temperatures beginning to drop, a growing homeless encampment cleanup along 33
rd Street in Ogden has some concerned.
âI was homeless at one point in my life and I made a promise to a loved one, my mother that I would make a difference when she was on her death bed and this seemed to fit in,â said Jimi Gilbrey, who stops by the encampment to deliver blankets, food and other necessities to those who call it home.
