Dr. (Mrs) Wiafe Addai, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), on the sidelines of the commemoration of the World Cancer Day at Oduom in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, described cancer as a silent killer.
The four main prevalent cancer-related diseases in the country, she noted, were breast, liver, prostate and cervical cancers, saying early detection of the cancers was critical in preventing them from causing harm to the patient.

Ghana has recorded 8, 037 deaths from cancer-related diseases in 2020, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, the former Chairperson of the Ghana Cancer Board, has disclosed.

The government has handed over a three-unit classroom block to the Appiadu RC JHS at Appiadu in the Oforikrom Municipality in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.
Estimated at GH₵300,000, the disability-friendly edifice has separate places of convenience for both male and female pupils, as well as a common room for teachers.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Oforikrom Mrs Gloria Timah Gambrah, together with the Municipal Education Director, Mrs Dorothy Opare-Baidu, commissioned the edifice, on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, during a visit to some selected schools in the Municipality, as part of the assembly’s obligation to welcome fresh pupils into a new academic year.
