COVID-19 Update January 2nd 12:54 am The Department of Health did not provide an Official Coronavirus update on New Year’s Day, so the State numbers listed below are a combination of Friday and Saturday, January 1st and 2nd. The Department of Health added a two day total of 16,967 cases to it’s Statewide totals, as Pennsylvania surpassed 650,000 cases since the start of the Pandemic. 67% of those cases are now considered to be recovered. 236 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported by the Commonwealth, bringing the Death Toll to 16,239. 5,624 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in PA. Of those patients, 1,172 are in the Intensive Care Unit.
