The Richardson Police Department’s K-9, a three-year-old German shepherd named Remi, died Friday following a brief illness.
Last week, Remi appeared to be showing symptoms of an illness and received treatment and several medical tests from multiple veterinarians, according to the department. Her health quickly deteriorated and the dog experienced kidney failure, police said.
An initial diagnosis suggested her decline was related to a genetic condition related to a thyroid gland problem, police said. Final test results are still pending.
