SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just as with all other law enforcement agencies around Lake Tahoe, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was very busy over the 4th of July holiday. Between June 30 and July 4, the local officers wrote 93 moving citations and ticketed about the same for illegal and unsafe parking, many along SR89 at Emerald Bay.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A driver heading westbound on US50 over Echo Summit got a little more than they bargained for Wednesday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a call at 1:30 p.m. January 13 from a person traveling on the highway that a rock "the size of a Yeti Cooler" was on the roadway, according to Officer Ruth Loehr.
