The Missouri Department of Public Safety honored two fallen Joplin police officers and two others still serving the city at a ceremony Thursday in Jefferson City.

The average age of the fallen is 47, the average tour of duty – 15 years. In addition to losing 84 law enforcement professionals in the line of duty this year, there are 48 widows and 151 children who’ve lost a parent.
People gathered at North County Senior High School to honor and pray for the two Bonne Terre police officers who responded to a disturbance call that turned fatal.
