As Officer Wallace spoke with the vehicle s occupants, she noticed the driver appeared distressed. While the male passenger wasn t looking at the driver, the female silently mouthed "Help Me" repeatedly.
As they were patrolling near East 183rd Street, they noticed two suspicious persons walking with ski masks covering their faces. The officers drove toward the two suspects intending to stop them when one of the suspects reportedly turned without warning.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - A Cape Girardeau officer received praise on Thursday, April 1 from the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.
Officer Matt McAlister earned an âI CAREâ award for his service in handling crisis situations.
Medical Center Director Drew Dewitt said McAlisterâs care and compassion for the people he interacts with is worthy of recognition.
Officer McAlister said heâs just happy to help.
âMe being a veteran myself, I kind of put myself in his shoes to see what he was going through,â he said. âIt just, it feels awesome to be able to help another veteran that was in need in the community, and just want to thank everybody for giving me this award.â
