Officer Gunther Hashida, 43, was found dead at his home last Thursday. He is the third police officer who responded to the Capitol attack to die by suicide. Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Brianna Burch said: “We are grieving as a department as our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Hashida’s family and friends.” Hashida joined the Metropolitan Police Department in May 2003 and was assigned to the emergency response team within the special operations division at the time of his death.
