A joint investigation conducted by the FBI and the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has released a report detailing dozens of incidents of racist, homophobic, sexist and derogatory text messages involving 14 Antioch Police Department officers.
ANTIOCH, Calif. — For years, Antioch Police Department officers routinely used private text messaging groups to flout their racist views, using slurs in front of superiors without fear of reprisal.
The officers made racist jokes, talked about targeting Black people for violence, made light of George Floyd's murder, and lamented that they couldn't beat suspects more when officers with body cameras were around.
